The Ruby is one of Mumbai’s well-known commercial buildings, having large MNC’s
as occupants. The brief was to upgrade the current public areas and overall guest
experience to that of an international commercial development. While keeping the
civil finishes and services the same, the design intent was more of an intervention
than are haul. The area programme was revitalised by infusing facilities like ATM
machines, grab and go stores followed by activating the main lobby with food and
beverage outlets that can generate revenue for the property owners.
The design language is kept modern and the long corridors are punctuated with an
origami inspired chandelier that creates a sense of poetic movement in a rather
mundane long space. The central lift core is infused with digital screens that flash
news and stock market trades to build up an informative way of filling up volume. An
upgrade to an upscale building is what this design delivers.
