The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Campus in Kalyani, West Bengal, India, by the Government of India’s Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has been designed keeping in mind the AIIMS’s trinity of goals: Education, research, and patient care.
The 180-acre campus is located in the southern part of West Bengal state. The medical zone stands with a 960- bed hospital and outpatient department. The residential zone is strategically located on the southern end of the site and includes quarters for faculty, nursing staff, and students’ hostels, along with amenities such as a Faculty Club, a student recreation centre. The best practices of evidence-based design have been incorporated so as to focus on creating a holistic model where patient treatment, research, and both healthcare receiver and provider receive equal support and have a good user experience.
