The client is a well known industrialist and bought a very odd shaped plot. The layouts had to follow principles of Vaastu and accommodate 4 bedrooms, spa and theatre apart from the regular home requirements. The language of design chosen was modern keeping the form simple but creating good massing features. The plot being more linear in proportion to the width made it difficult to have large lawns facing the living. Hence to create a large sense of space from the main door one can see the landscape along the compound by making the living room partitions in glass. Since there was a main road and nearby residential building, visual privacy was a concern. This was handled by having horizontal large louvers along the north facade to screen off the viewing angles but still getting enough and more natural light into the spaces. A compact layout with lesser wastage of space in passages made this an effective layout giving more spaces and area to the living spaces. This was a unique feature of the layout and the project holds a special position on the group’s portfolio as it was their first villa project to be completed.
